Namsan
A hill with a tower, a cable car and a hanok village at its foot
Namsan is the green hill in the middle of Seoul, topped by N Seoul Tower. You can ride the cable car, take a bus or walk the park trails to reach it.
Most visitors go for the view. The observatory at N Seoul Tower is open every day, to 22:30 on weekdays and 23:00 on weekends. Visit Seoul lists adult admission at ₩29,000, which is a lot for a view, so some people just walk to the base for free.
The cable car leaves from the Myeongdong side and costs ₩15,000 round trip for adults.
Namsangol Hanok Village is at the northern foot, about 300 m from Chungmuro exit 4. It's free and closed Mondays. The Sky Forest Trail begins on the western side and is open all day.
Getting there
Take Myeong-dong (Line 4) exit 4 for the cable car. Chungmuro (Line 3/4) exit 2 has Bus 01 up to the tower. Chungmuro exit 4 leads to Namsangol Hanok Village. Hoehyeon (Line 4) exit 4 is the closest stop for the Sky Forest Trail, about 1.1 km away.
What to see
Go up late afternoon, so you see the city in daylight and after dark. Namsan Park is free and the Patriot Ahn Jung-geun Memorial Hall inside it runs 10:00 to 18:00 from March to October.
Autumn is the best season for the lower slopes, and spring brings cherry blossom.
Where to eat and drink
The cable car starts from the Myeongdong side, so Myeongdong's restaurants are the easy place to eat before you go up.

Evening Opening at Namsangol Hanok Village Exhibition

The city has extended evening opening to 21:00 on these days from 15 September through November. The houses inside the village can be visited in the evening, and a phone-app outdoor escape game runs around the village.
