Jamsil
A tower observatory, a theme park and a lake loop in one district
Jamsil is Songpa's entertainment district. Lotte World Tower, Lotte World Mall and Lotte World Adventure all connect to Jamsil Station. Seokchon Lake gives a free walk, and Olympic Park and the baseball stadium are on other stations.
The tower complex works well on a rainy day. Seoul Sky runs 10:30 to 22:00 Sunday to Thursday and until 23:00 Friday and Saturday, with adults at ₩33,000 per Visit Seoul. Lotte World Aquarium on the mall's basement level is ₩35,000 for adults and closes at 20:00 Monday to Thursday.
Lotte World Adventure is a theme park with indoor rides and Magic Island, open 10:00 to 21:00 and until 22:00 on Friday and Saturday. Between rides, walk the Seokchon Lake path, which is open 24 hours and takes 30 to 40 minutes around.
For a calmer afternoon, Olympic Park is free and open 05:00 to 22:00. The Mongchontoseong museum inside is free and closed Mondays. If it is baseball season, Jamsil Baseball Stadium hosts the LG Twins and Doosan Bears, with no games on Mondays.
Getting there
Jamsil Station (Lines 2 and 8) is connected to the mall and tower, with exits 2, 10 and 11 near the tower. Sports Complex (Lines 2 and 9) serves the stadium. Olympic Park (Lines 5 and 9) and Mongchontoseong (Line 8) serve the park.
What to see
Book the observatory for sunset on a clear day. Olympic Park is large, so choose between the Peace Gate, the sculpture zone and the Baekje history sites. Seoul Baekje Museum is closed Mondays.
Where to eat and drink
Lotte World Mall has Hanguk Jip on the fifth floor and Aqua Garden Cafe in the basement, both open until 22:00 (last order 21:30 at Aqua Garden Cafe). Songridan-gil near Songpanaru Station has smaller cafes, and shop hours vary.
