Two campuses, a prison museum and rice porridge
Sinchon is a student district built around Yonsei University, with Ewha Womans University at the next stop on Line 2. The Seodaemun Prison History Hall, by Dongnimmun Station on Line 3, gives the area a more serious stop.
Sinchon Station is on Line 2. Exit 2 leads to Yonsei's campus on Yonsei-ro. Visit Seoul lists no hours or fee for the campus, so check Yonsei's own site before you go.
Ewha Womans University Station is the next stop on Line 2. The Ewha Campus Complex is a partly underground building, and Ewha's page says campus tours are discontinued until further notice and visitors can't enter after 22:00.
For history, the Seodaemun Prison History Hall sits in Seodaemun Independence Park beside Dongnimmun Station on Line 3. It's open March to October 09:30 to 18:00 and closed Mondays.
Getting there
Sinchon Station and Ewha Womans University Station are on Line 2. Dongnimmun Station is on Line 3, exit 5 for the prison hall and exit 4 for the park.
What to see
Allow about two and a half hours for the prison hall and the park together, then head back toward Sinchon and walk Yonsei's campus. The Seodaemun Museum of Natural History needs about two hours and works on a wet day.
Where to eat and drink
Jukmiin near exits 6 and 7 serves rice porridge with more than 30 items. Its listed hours disagree about Sundays, so confirm first. Geek Live House covers the evening.
