Mapo and World Cup Park

The 2002 World Cup site, landfill parks and a former oil depot

This part of Mapo-gu is built around the 2002 World Cup. World Cup Park, the stadium and Oil Tank Culture Park sit close together near World Cup Stadium Station on Line 6.

World Cup Stadium Station exit 1 is the gateway. Seoul World Cup Stadium is beside it, open for visits on non-match days and closed Mondays, national holidays, 1 May and match days. Adults pay ₩1,000.

World Cup Park is free and open every day, though some sections close after dark. Haneul Park sits on a former landfill hill about 1.6 km from the station, so expect a climb, and Noeul Park is next to it. Haneul Park is known for autumn silver grass.

Oil Tank Culture Park at 87 Jeungsan-ro is a former oil depot used for exhibitions, with the park open year round and the tanks closed on Mondays. The Korean Film Archive in Sangam, in the Digital Media City complex, has the Korean Film Museum.

Getting there

World Cup Stadium Station is on Line 6, exit 1 for the stadium and park and exit 2 for the Oil Tank Culture Park. Digital Media City Station (Line 6), exit 2, then a bus, reaches the Korean Film Archive.
